Fun Self Help Programs
I added this page for the fun self help programs I've found
that don't fit into any of the other catagories. Self
improvement is never ending, but who says it can't be fun?
Free Handwriting Analysis
I've always been fascinated by handwriting analysis, so
imagine how excited I was to run across this freebie! All you
do is write a short paragraph and answer the questions about
your handwriting style. They email back a report on your
personality based upon your answers. I was amazed at how
accurate it was! They say it's even possible to change certain
characteristics by changing your handwriting. I tell you, I'll
be a lot more aware of how I'm crossing my t's and dotting my
i's!
They also have an interesting newsletter you can sign up for
and several great articles on the website. Be sure to look
around after you finish your free handwriting analysis. I found
a fun article about analyzing your sex drive based on your y's
and g's and amused my girlfriends at a luncheon last week.
I'm continually amazed at how informative the newsletter
is. The last one I received had a link to an audio segment
that gave a step-by-step breakdown of a handwriting
analysis. In this particular case, someone was thinking of
meeting someone she met on an online dating site. She
asked him to fax over a hand written note and had it
analyzed. Really interesting stuff!
I haven't taken any of the paid courses, but there's an email
in my in box that's just too good to resist -- half price on
the introductory course. I'll let you know how it is.
I
received my introductory course. I haven't had time to
read through all of it, but the video was very
informative. Bart is entertaining and stresses how to be
diplomatic when covering negative aspects of someone's
personality.

Ultimate Speed Reader
With all the reading I have to do to keep up with this
website, I decided I'd better improve my reading speed. I've
been interested in the EyeQ infomercial, but didn't really want
to spend that much money. Then I found the Ultimate Speed
Reader. It's a program you load on your computer. It has
several eye movement exercises and games, some timed readings
in several formats and a tracking system. More than one person
can use it, they just have to set up as a different user. It
even measures your comprehension by multiple choice questions
after each timed reading. So far, all the different reading
assignments have been interesting.
I've only been doing it about two weeks, usually less than 20
minutes each day. My rate has improved from 368 words per
minute to 470. Not too bad. My real goal is to get out of that
sub-vocalization I seem to be doing. There's an eye movement
game at the end of the readings that I find particularly
challenging called Eye Max. I've only made it to level two
once. I obviously haven't played enough video games or I'm sure
I'd be better at it.
Here's the best part about the Ultimate Speed Reader; it's only
$20 -- what a bargain! Here's the link where you can buy it:
