Meditations 2 Go Review – Meditation Audio
“Restoring Balance and Clarity”
As the founder and creator of Meditations2Go and with more than 35 years of experience, Rob Brookler’s “Restoring Balance and Clarity” audio meditation seemed like a good choice when searching for something to help me clear my mind after a fairly stressful period of work and travel.
Meditations2Go is a new site with lots of interesting meditative MP3 downloads serving different aspects of life depending on what you want to achieve. One of my goals for 2011 is to become more spiritual, and by that I mean exploring the mind more and undertaking more holistic activities such as yoga, healing, life coaching and meditation.
Here is my ‘pros and cons’ assessment of the Meditations2Go “Restoring Balance and Clarity” audio.
Pros:
- At 26.48 minutes long, the session is adequately long enough to achieve a beneficial state of mindfulness and relaxation. Unlike other shorter meditation audios from competing sites that are usually between 10-15 minutes long, you are able to unwind long enough for this audio to prove useful.
- The ambient background music helps to block out any disturbing noises around you and Brookler’s measured tone is suitably soothing – unlike some I have experienced in the past which can be off-putting or annoying after a while.
- The audio is a solid place to begin for beginners as it isn’t too overwhelming, however, I think advanced mediators would also gain benefits from listening to it as well.
- Rob Brookler’s years of experience mean that he really knows what he’s talking about and thus you can reach a deep level of relaxation and you tend to trust his direction which helps with gaining positive results.
Cons:
- On first listen, the guided imagery stimulated as opposed to relaxing and disengaging my mind. However, this could be down to my over-active imagination. When I listened the second time this did decrease and I am rather out of practice with my meditation so my concentration should improve over time.
Summary
The audio definitely served its purpose as it eventually restored my natural calm and balanced state. Although I found the imagery a bit much at first, when I settled my mind and focused more on my breathing and body’s natural rhythm, I was able to fully appreciate the images.
It is hard to say whether this audio would work for everyone, but it would certainly help more people than it would hinder and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It is not so far advanced to make it inaccessible to a novice and it is not too simple to prove useless to someone more advanced. At $4.99 one can’t really go wrong, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I will be checking out Rob’s other MP3s and seeing what I can achieve – watch this space.
